Bach: Cembalo Concertos
- BWV 1052, 1053, 1054 & 1056

Francesco Cera (harpsichord) I Barocchisti/Diego Fasolis

ARTS SACD 47729-8

The lightest and most buoyant recording of the Bach concertos I have heard in years. The notes remind us that these are all reworked ("parodied") music from cantatas and (mostly lost) other concertos.

Bach was the first to use the harpsichord as concert solo instrument, and it was soon to be susperceded by the piano, in its changing forms, as the favoured solo keyboard instrument until the end of the 18th C.

Lovely tone quality and balance. Surely no-one will want to continue hearing modern pianos in this music? Recommended unreservedly.
